HARVEST PREP BASEBALL WINS THEIR FIRST GAME IN 9 YEARS!!!!!!
Zach Ullom took over the Harvest Preparatory School's baseball team knowing the tall task of taking over a team has not won a game in 9 seasons. Many might think he was crazy to leave coaching in the college ranks to take over a team that has been a team opponents look forward to padding their stats against. After every game coach Ullom and his assistant coach Jacob Hymrod is told by their opposition's coaches how improved the team is. Today, the proof was in the pudding. In 2013, Harvest Prep made national news by losing to Licking Heights 65-0. And the game ended after just three innings due to a lack of sunlight. Zach Ullom @ZachUllom · 59m Wow!! I’m so proud of these young men for putting in the work every day to achieve this. A team win, and a huge step for this program, so proud. Go Warriors!!! A decade in the waiting. @HPBaseball2024 @HPSWarriors Quote Harvest Prep Baseball @HPBaseball2024 · 1h First Program win in over 9 years!! 7-3 win!! @M...
I have been around for 67 years. I have seen HUGE changes in our society. The old television program "Leave It To Beaver"? People mock it, today, claiming life in the U.S. was never that way. I lived it--along with 230 million other citizens. Schools have deteriorated into useless pits, compared to when I attended. My children attended far worse schools; my grandchildren are attending school like that described in the video. My grandchildren have been exemplary students. But they have been threatened, seriously injured and given detention--for POINTING OUT problems.
ReplyDeleteWith this video im watching ,what im hearing is that kids in his high school do what they want and have no guidance in school. being in a public school is kinda like being in a college , kids choose whether or not they want to come to school or want to come to certain classes. the big difference is that these high schools are passing kids who doesn't show up just to keep there numbers up . in this society everything is number based , the more numbers that they have the more recognition the school gets and the more they get payed . these public school teachers/ administration aren't invested into these kids , and doesn't care about what they do and what they learn ,they are just handing out free diplomas to gets who doesn't put in work or earn . these kids is honestly nothing but i pay check . - Christian Dowdy
ReplyDeleteI think that for the most part what that man was saying is correct. Kids are crazy these days! A lot of times kids don'
ReplyDeleteThe public school system can be easily scammed and messed up, not all public schools does these things but there are public schools that does these things and it needs to be addressed. These administrations does these things for money and for school looks meaning they want the school to look good. But with this happening it messes up the real world because these kids who graduate doesn't know what to do after high school which is a problem for the future. So I agree, there should be justice for these things.

DeleteI think he's right the school has to do something about this because if one of the boss find out that school will be in a lot of trouble and possible might get shut down.

ReplyDeleteThis video was really shocking and sad to me. One, because I have never been in an environment like that and I can't believe there are schools allowed to be like this and that this type of school environment is normalized. Two, I can't believe that there are adults who cheat the system to let these kids graduate. The lying and the manipulating of the grades and classes is really wrong to me because these adults are sending uneducated , undisciplined and disrespectful kids into the adult world and basically setting them up for failure. That superintendent needs to be incarcerated for ruining so many young lives.

i have went to many public schools and what he is saying is very true.At my middle school there was a fight almost everyday. It would be hard for the teachers to teach and for the students who wanted to learn to learn because there were always students being distracting. Some students would just blatantly disrespect teachers without a care in the world. As soon as i made the switch to a private school i noticed the difference immediately.I could actually learn with no distractions. There were no fights and i noticed students had higher grades.

DeleteI myself have never attended a public school but have heard many horrific stories. I believe school staff and administration shouldn't focus on trying to help a student succeed if they do not care about their own success them self as a student. Enforcing rules is important for schools to have order. It should never be okay for an administrator to work for the students grades when there are people who care about their own success. -Kyla
ReplyDeleteI think the way society has changed influenced the way kids are in school. I have been in public school all my life until this year and the way the man was describing it was spot on. Teens are exposed to things like violence and people who never graduated at a young age. They had no guidance so they repeat what they see. I believe that is why some kids are being disrespectful and why they fight so much. A lot of teenagers actions are the way they are due to the environment they grew up in. Also schools are all based on numbers so if they have good numbers, they have more recognition, even if it is not a good school. Recently schools have scammed their way into having a good reputation for themselves.- Jasmine
ReplyDeleteIt's sad how the administration at the school can not care about the kids education. In the long run it is damaging their future. They should pay attention to the kids attendance and behavior. They should care less about the money, have hearts & focus on the kids. Their job is to help the kids receive an education to help them succeed not treat them like they don't matter.

i think that this man is 100% right, just because your born into a environment you have to act a certain way. Also the things they were doing in school were asinine, but not all public school are as terrible as everyone portrays them too be onh-shaun goines
ReplyDeleteI believe there is no true actions being made in society with public schools. There our some serious advocates for changing the environment of public schools but not at this school. The man in the video seems to be the only one striving for change but the teachers are only looking for wealth and school percentages.
ReplyDeleteI think that for the most part what that man said in the video was correct. Kids are crazy these days! A lot of times kids don't respect authority in school cause they feel like they cant do anything to stop them. But some of those kids come from homes where there parents show those type of actions toward them so thats all they know. Some times parents dont teach there kids the right things and they usually dont just learn the right things on there own. All in all what that guy was saying is mainly correct. -DaDaRio onb
ReplyDeletei have been in and out of public schools from the best public schools to the worse. I believe that teachers and administration play a big role in how good the school works, not all of the public school system are uncontrollable and with no real authority. the teachers have the key for an high school student diploma and if the administration and teachers are letting the kids off the hook and there is no real authority then that shows the students that they can continue this pattern of doing what they want.I believe if you discipline kids and the authority has actual consequences this shows the students that there are actual consequences with your action.so if administration start enforcing discipline then its a proven fact that in over the years the school will improve without having to go and cheat for the kids.

The idea of schools hiding negative statistics about their students makes sense, although it obviously is not a good thing to do. When staggering numbers of students skipping class and school in general is released it is definitely not a good look for schools in the U.S. A former teacher claiming that these actions are being done frequently in schools was very credible and insightful. - Jeremiah G.
ReplyDeleteThe man is right on how they are able to pass without doing anything ,when they should be failing cause that student is not in class doing what he needs to do.The public school needs to fix that instead of forcing students to pass to make themselves look good. For the students fighting is a problem just to let them go that easy.

He is right on how they shouldn't be passing class without coming to school. They should be failing not passing. The public school needs to fix things. They should be helping the students not just give it to them easy. They need know to work for it. When they fight or stuff they need to be punished.-Tatiana
ReplyDeletei feel that public schools trying to cover up the wrong that kid's are doing is wrong. just to cover up for themselves and make that school look good. they hide all negative but try to promote all positive is just wrong to me. i believe that that school should hire a whole new staff to change the school around. -emmanuel mullens
ReplyDeleteI feel like it’s crazy it was an average of 33 absences or cuts, but people should just show up to school and they wouldn’t have to worry about anything. The made up class for kids to get the points they need to make up for is helpful but at the same time it’s the child’s fault for not coming to school or class. The part about somebody or multiple people planning on fighting somebody is not acceptable. This school may need more discipline for the children that’s not behaving, or get a new principal because it seems like the principal isn’t doing something right if the kids are still acting up.
ReplyDeletethe male teacher in the video was very clear on his points and had great evidence but coming from a public school they aren't all the same. public schools have a lot of faults and some are minor but the smaller problems make many bigger ones and some of it is completely ridiculous and it puts students, teachers and administrators in danger. -bri

DeleteIn my opinion I strongly believe that this man is right on how schools are passing students to protect their own image at all cost, even though the students are not putting in efforts to learn. Our public schools should be less worried about their image and more concerned about the amounts students skipping school and not putting effort in their education. - amari rumph
ReplyDeleteI think that public schools focus too much on the numbers they bring in rather than the safety of students or whether they come to class or the grades they're bringing in. Not being on the students about their grades or whether they're in class is not good because then it's chaos towards the end of quarters/semesters or around graduation for seniors. Then they have to do so much dirty work to allow students who may not even deserve to graduate because they don't even come to school and since teachers and faculty allow it students will continue to use them. - Amari Winston
ReplyDeleteKids should be more careful in todays society with schooling but to prevent that teachers should be more on the students but now a days public school staff do it for the money than focusing on the students future
