Why is Christian Education Booming

There are definitely a push-pull relationships contributing to the massive gains in enrollment for Christian schools.

Of course a variety of factors have contributed to the demand for Christian school education.  Among exodus reasons include :parent dissatisfaction with remote learning as well as worries about curriculum being taught in public schools.  And let's don't forget the poor graduation rates and dangerous situations from many of these schools.

In a 2022 survey, 55 percent of educators said that they were thinking about leaving the profession, citing pandemic stresses and burnout.  Covid the online teaching exposed many to the agendas being taught in the government schools.. The higher scrutiny of teachers added to their stress.

"Just as the conditions in Egypt drastically changed and turned against the people of God when Pharaoh arose “who did not know Joseph” (Exodus 1:8), so the current government system has radically turned against Christian children, their beliefs and even against Christian teachers. This has been true for decades, but now with the adoption of Common Core, indoctrination and coercion have accelerated."  (exodusmandate.org)

US News and World Report wrote that institutions within the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU) have experienced "nearly an 18 percent growth in first-time, full-time enrollment from 2003 to 2015.

Christian School parents surveyed gave their number one priority for their children is safety, and over 80% spiritual growth was important to them. Frontiers of Society magazine quotes 31% of students in schools do not feel safe.  Close to 90% of all American students go to public schools.

"Private school students scored Proficient in the 1994 NAEP reading test at 1.5 times the rate of public schools students (Table #1).(8) Roman Catholic schools, which can be used as a surrogate for non-elite private schools, produced Proficient scores at 1.4 times or more the rate of public schools."

Graduation rates in government schools are highly misleading.  Schools will start off with the freshman class with over 200 students let's say at a particular school.. In their fourth year they will have 50 students left.  Somehow the school will claim to have graduated 75 or 85% of their students.   How they figure 50 out of 200 is 75% is beyond me.

Christian schools nearly graduate 100% of their students.  Very seldom you hear of a Christian school that is unsafe or unproductive.

The bottom line is there's a demand for Christian schools because Christian schools are often  better value alternatives when compared.to the government schools.
