The G.O.A.T at Linden-McKinley High School

There have quite a few "Greats" from Linden-McKinley Highschool.  There are athletic and academic superstars, but who should be considered the GOAT?

Here are just a few who could all make the GOAT claim:

James E. Bowman - Linden's First 3-time All City Basketball Player, Former President of the Columbus Urban League, Cedric Brown - NFL Player Jim Cleamons - NBA Player and Coach, Buster Douglas - Boxing, World Heavyweight Champion, Hilmer Kenty - Boxing, World Lightweight Champion,J erry Page - Boxing, Olympic Gold Medalist, and William Thomas, Jr. - Actor.

Buster Douglas was part of arguably the biggest upset boxing history knocking out The undefeated  (50 to 1 odds on favorite) Mike Tyson.

Coach Larry Henderson was a legend at Linden-McKinley for his years of dedication teaching, coaching, and mentoring students.  Irma Scott was a popular administrator that cared a lot about students at her tenure, and cared about her, "young ones."

Teachers Bruce Hankins, Linda Smith, Howard Burks, Darrell Guess, Don Moore, Constance Hunter and many others had huge positive impacts.

Tina Jordan had one of the biggest hearts and impacts of any teacher's Aide.

Leslie Briggs was very popular administrator thar knew every student's name as an administrator. She was heroic when that did all she could to keep the school open when she risked her job by standing up against the district  fighting to shut  Linden McKinley down.

Carlton Jenkins was Linden's transformational leader that ushered in Project Grad, that was known for calling students "big time".

There were several students who won the Bill Gates Millennium Scholarship worth $250,000 I could make the claim they were the greatest of all time.

Kerry Charles, Linden-McKinley alumni,  is a relatively famous news anchor for NBC Columbus.

The G.O.A.T.

The person who has earned the title The GOAT of Linden-McKinley is the man who was motivated by reading that America was (still is) failing in math and science.  This guy never sleeps.  He calls his students "my Panther" or "my cousin" and knows something about everyone by not missing an interaction or moment.

Randy Osborn began teaching science (biology, chemistry, earth & space science, physical science and physics) in Columbus, Ohio in 1990. According to computerized district records, Osborn’s students passed the science portion of the Ohio Graduation Test at double the rate of their peers.

Mr. Osborn helped save a student's life after being shot in front of the school.  Countless times he has then the peacemaker to many violent incidents within the school and community.

" I will forever support these teachers because they supported me when I felt like I wasn’t getting it at home ! From me and other alumni we appreciate you." - Mikey Honcho.

For 2 decades Osborn I thrived in one of the most stressful environments possible.

Congratulations to the greatest Panther of  ALL time, Randy Osborn!
