Vanderbilt QB Vision fulfilled to defeat number 1 Alabama

Diego Pavia

A senior quarterback for the Vanderbilt Commodores. He previously played for New Mexico State.

Diego Pavia led the 24-point underdog Vanderbilt team victory over number one Alabama.  This is the same Vanderbilt team that lost just weeks ago to Georgia State, Division I FBS level as a member of the Sun Belt Conference.

As you can see in the traffic above, Vanderbilt was torched for 426 yards against the subdivision team, and the subdivision team defeated the top conference in division 1, the SEC's Vanderbilt.

Saturday's win was the first for Vanderbilt against top five opponent in 60 tries. And Georgia was coming off a huge win  against then #1 Georgia. This was the first top five win in program history for Vanderbilt.

Clark Lea is the head football coach of the miraculous winning team of Vanderbilt University.  He was previously a highly sought out defensive coordinator at Notre Dame from 2018 to 2020.

Coach Lee is building a football program. His coaching assistants came through today against Alabama.  Lea said this about his offensive line coach, Chris Klenakis, "I think we have the best offensive line coach in the country."

Tim Beck is the Vanderbilt offensive coordinator I have the announcers and analysts amazed at the play calling and the confidence to which he called plays in tight situations today against Alabama.

A few days ago before playing Alabama, a reporter asked whether Vanderbilt was going to get beat by Alabama again by 50 points, and he confidently responded, "This is a different team. We have a bunch of dogs on this team that prepare like they're going to play on Sundays for the NFL."

At the end of the game, answering how the quarterback Pavia felt, he replied, "God gave me the vision of this happening  years ago."

It is reported that 70 family members came to see QB Pavia play.  During the postgame interview Pavia was so emotional that he abruptly ended the interview to meet and celebrate with his family.

Will this be the first of more losses this season for Alabama?  How will this victory affect Vanderbilt?

Vanderbilt bowl game history. Bowl game record: (4-4-1). Average score: Vanderbilt 25.9 - Opponents 26.0.
